I attended the New Media Consortium Conference in Princeton NJ last week! It was a great conference that brought to light many exciting ways to energize and engage students in the classroom. One of the presentations got my undivided attention because I have been experimenting with using student created videos in my classes this past semester to meet some learning objectives. The U of P presented a showcase of digital media success stories based on this premise: “ Student-created video and multimedia is an increasingly popular undergraduate assignment option at Penn, replacing traditional research papers. Creative videos assignments engage students in high level critical thinking, writing, planning, scripting and group collaboration tasks.” (WIC at U of P )
